This dish is gorgeous. It’s flavorful, rich and tender. Also, it’s healthy yet simple and quick to make. Here’s a heads-up! Simple means you only actively need to do two things – to sear the meat pieces and slice and sauté the onions. From there, everything cooks itself. For exceptional softness, healthiness and flavor, the meat is best cooked in a slow cooker (multicooker with a mode of 80 degrees Celsius). That’s also the easiest way, put everything in at night and it’s ready in the morning! If you don’t have a slow cooker yet, you can stew the meat on the stovetop or in the oven.

You can make this dish in larger quantities and freeze it in portions for the future.

Steps

1
Done

Cut the onions in half rings.

2
Done

Cut the beef into large 4 to 5 cm cubes and dab them with a paper towel.
Heat 1 tbsp of ghee in a frying pan and sear meat pieces in small portions over high heat on all sides until browned. Then place the browned meat pieces into the slow cooker bowl or a cauldron with a thick bottom and a lid.

3
Done

When all the meat is seared, add the remaining oil and onions to the same frying pan and sauté them over medium heat until they caramelize for about 15 minutes. Then add them to the meat.

4
Done

Now add to the meat prunes and all the spices and salt. Next, pour the water so that one-third of the top pieces of meat are above the surface. Mix it all well, cover and cook in a slow cooker on low mode for 8 hours or on the stove under a lid on low heat until tender. Also, you can bring it to a boil on the stove and then cook it in the oven at 120 degrees Celsius for about 3 to 4 hours.
