Austrians love to serve boiled meat with Apfelkren (apple and horseradish) while Italians use sauce from fresh apples and basil. To make this sauce, you will need green apples with a hard bite, fresh basil leaves, salt, and olive oil. Easy, refreshing, and delicious – just like every other dish in Italian cuisine!

This sauce may seem too simple in terms of taste but adds a surprising refreshing note when served with meat. 

The intensity depends on what apples you use.

Peel and core the apples and cut them coarsely. Add them to the food processor together with the basil leaves. Pulse into large/medium crumbs. Make sure not to pulse into puree!
Season with salt and olive oil.
Serve with boiled, roasted, and fried meat and steaks.
Keep in the fridge for up to 3 days in a closed glass container.
