What I have realized, or can even say discovered in Sweden, is the very notion of shrimp salad. Until then, it seemed to me like an exotic rather than a food. 🙂
In Northern countries, shrimp is an entirely ordinary and accessible product, a true gift of Nature in this region. They are eaten with sauces, added to salads, open sandwiches, soups and even meatballs.
Small boiled shrimp go well with crispy Iceberg lettuce leaves. In Sweden, shrimp are often combined with mayonnaise. Add more vegetables and colors and you receive a nice healthy (conditional on the use of homemade mayonnaise, see different recipes on the site) Shrimp salad that will take you no more than 15 minutes to make (provided you have pre-cooked shrimp).
Bon Appétit!
