There are two options for lazy stuffed cabbage rolls. This one is the laziest:) There is an even less lazy one, where you form cutlets from the cabbage-meat mass, then fry and bake them. The “laziness” of both options is that you don’t have to wrap the stuffing into cabbage roll leaves.

Lazy or not, stuffed cabbage rolls are a very healthy and delicious dish!

Steps

1
Done

Boil rice until tender, then rinse it under cold water.

2
Done

Cut the cabbage into thin strips, grate carrots and dice onions finely.

3
Done

Heat olive oil in a large frying pan with a lid and add the onions and carrots. Saute them over medium heat until soft and slightly golden. It will take about 15 minutes. Then add the cabbage, pour water and a little salt. Stir everything, put the lid on and let the cabbage simmer on low or medium heat for about 30 minutes, stirring occasionally. During this time, the cabbage will be fully cooked and soft.

4
Done

Briefly sauté the minced meat in a separate frying pan in olive oil until it is no longer pink, for about 5 minutes. Then add it to the cabbage. Next, add boiled rice, bay leaf, allspice, black pepper and salt and mix it all together. Put the lid on and simmer the dish for 15 minutes. After that, add the tomato paste, mix and cook lazy cabbage rolls for another 5 minutes. Now, taste it and adjust the salt and pepper. The dish is ready!
