Fluffy basmati rice with perfect long grains comes with every Indian meal. In restaurants and Indian families it’s cooked in special steam rice cookers. What about if you don’t have such an appliance? Good news! You still can make perfect basmati rice very easily. Follow my instructions.
Ingredients:
2 cup basmati rice
3,5 cup water
1 tsp salt
1,5 tbsp lemon juice
1,5 tbsp olive oil
Instructions:
Rinse the rice under cold running water for a few times to rinse away the excess starch. Repeat under the water runs almost clear.
Transfer the rice to a colander to let it strain.
Transfer the rice to a heavy-bottom pot and cover with 3,5 cup water. Add salt, olive oil, and lemon juice.
Bring to a boil over high heat, then cover with a lid and reduce the heat to low. Cook for 12-15 min undisturbed. Don’t remove the lid!
Check for doneness – all of the water should be absorbed but the rice is still wet. Carefully fluff the rice with a fork, cover with a lid, and let stand for 10 min. Serve!
Enjoy!
