Directions
This is our family’s go-to turkey recipe for everyday meals. I can make it in any condition, even when I’m really tired. It’s incredibly easy and quick to make (just 10 to 15 minutes of prep) plus some oven time, and you’ll end up with a delicious, healthy meal.
For baking, I use turkey thighs and drumsticks in any combination, and sometimes I add a roll. The dark meat of the turkey is the most delicious, juicy, and full of nutrients. The mustard marinade adds a nice spice, tanginess, and a wonderful flavor to the meat.
It’s best to use an enameled cast iron skillet with a lid, but you can also bake the turkey in a baking dish. Just be sure to cover the meat with baking paper before placing foil on top so the meat doesn’t touch the foil.
You can also add root vegetables of your choice in the skillet with the turkey.

If you want the best flavor, it's best to marinate the turkey overnight in the fridge. But if you're short on time, you can marinate it for an hour at room temperature or even marinate and bake it right away. Keep in mind that the longer the turkey sits in the marinade, the richer the flavor will be. |

Preheat your oven to 200 degrees Celsius. Put the turkey in a roasting pan (I like to use an enameled cast iron skillet, so I marinate it directly in that), cover it with a lid, and place it in the oven for 20 minutes. After that, reduce the temperature to 175 degrees and keep baking the turkey with the lid on until it is fully cooked (about 1 hour for each kilogram of meat). Finally, take off the lid and bake for another 15 minutes to get a beautiful golden-brown skin. |
