I am joking that only a wizard can cook this chocolate orange cake because it contains no flour or butter. But it’s really hard to believe when you eat this extremely chocolate and super-orange delicious cake!

The magic begins with boiling oranges. If you haven’t done it before, it may surprise your family. Another wonderful thing about the recipe is that while oranges are boiling, a lovely holiday citrus scent will be lingering in the air. And everybody will be longing to try the cake!

The cake is super easy and quick to cook. However, you should boil oranges the day before.

Enjoy!

Steps

1
Done

The preparation begins by boiling oranges. I suggest you prepare them in advance, as if you cook them the day before and store overnight in the refrigerator, it will save much of your time.

2
Done

Place oranges in a saucepan and cover with water. Cook for about 2 hours. Remove oranges and set aside to cool.

3
Done

Preheat the oven to 180 degrees Celsius.

4
Done

Mince oranges in a food processor or a meat mincing machine until smooth but let orange rind pieces be slightly noticeable.

5
Done

If a food processor is available, you may use it to prepare the dough, adding the ingredients to blended oranges. If not, prepare another bowl and a mixer or a whisk.

6
Done

Mix together all the ingredients with blended oranges until smooth. Don’t process to much in a food processor as we need orange rind pieces to be slightly noticeable.

7
Done

Cover the bottom (20 cm diameter) of a spring form pan with a baking sheet.

8
Done

Pour batter in the pan. Place into the oven and cook for 45-50 min until a toothpick inserted in the cake comes out clean and dry.

9
Done

Let the cake cool gradually: turn off the heat and leave your cake in the oven for about 10 more min, then open the door and leave for 10 min more. Remove and allow it to cool at room temperature. When the cake is completely cooled you can take it out of the form.

How to serve:

Serve when completely cooled. You can garnish it with orange zest and segments and serve with tea or coffee. Incredibly delicious!

How to keep:

Can be kept in a slightly open container at room temperature for up to 2 days.
