This is a great summer dish. The chard goes great together with the sweetness of the apples and caramelized onions. The cashews have a nice crunch, while the garlic, balsamic vinegar and soy sauce spice things up and add an interesting flavor.

Take note, this is a very healthy and delicious dish that doesn’t require anything else!

Steps

1
Done

Cut the stems off the chard and cut them into small pieces 5 mm thick. Cut the leaves into 1 to 2 cm thick strips.
Slice the onion into thin half-rings. Chop the garlic finely and then chop the cashews coarsely.
Remove the seeds from the apples and first thinly slice them, then cut each slice in half.

2
Done

Caramelize the onions in olive oil. In this dish, it is important to caramelize the onions, so that they turn out to be soft, golden and sweet. To do that, cook them over low heat for about 15 to 20 minutes.

3
Done

When the onions are ready, add the garlic and sauté them together for 1 minute. Now add the apples and the chard stems. Braise them until the chard stems are soft for about 5 to 7 minutes, stirring.

4
Done

Now add cashews and chard leaves, braise all together until the leaves are soft for about 3 to 5 minutes. Add soy sauce and balsamic vinegar, then stir and cook all together for 2 more minutes.
This dish is done, serve it warm.
