Today I have been to a store called Tortenwelt (literally Cake World) with my kids, and we couldn’t leave empty-handed. We’ve had a lot of crazy cooking ideas, but decided to make cake pops, so we bought food coloring and sugar sprinkles. A silicon mold was waiting for us at home, and for treat sticks, we used toothpicks and wooden skewers.

In fact, there are two kinds of cake pops. The first one uses cake crumbles and doesn’t need any special mold. The second one uses a mold, which we’ve got.

We agreed on coating them with chocolate because I wanted to practice in tempering it.

They turned out great! The kids are as happy as clams – pink, sweet, and fun little cakes 🙂 Mum is happy too – smeared everything with chocolate.

Steps

1
Done

Mix the flour, salt, and baking powder. Sift the mixture.

2
Done

Cream the butter and sugar until white and fluffy. Beat in eggs one at a time. Add the flour mixture and mix until well combined. Add food coloring, if desired. I used pink food coloring in the photo.

3
Done

Preheat the oven to 180 degrees.

4
Done

Fill the cavities of the bottom mold with cake batter and cover with the top mold.
Bake for 19-20 min.
Take out and let cool down. Remove the top mold, release the cake balls and let them cool completely on the cooling rack.
Insert treat sticks into the cake pops, dip them into the melted chocolate or sugar icing, decorate to your liking. Let the coating harden before serving. Done!
